We are offering another of Wright Morris’ finest prints. Mr. Morris was a pioneer in the thirties of what he termed “photo-text”, Wright Morris combined his skills as a writer and photographer, joining his pictures with short, lyrical passages of prose that were related in spirit, but were in no way illustrative or interpretive. This photograph is included in his book The Home Place.
This is a very rare photograph, even though it is one of his most popular. Having been raised in the country and collecting eggs from mean-spirited chickens, this photograph has a great deal of meaning, having not been able to collect the other eight eggs to make a dozen.
Valued between $4,000 - $5,000, we are offering this signed 8x10 print matted to 16x20 and signed on the back by Mr. Morris for $1500. Only one photograph is available.
